My Background:
Interested on nature and art, science and technology – performing as well a bit of photography…
The most essential – to stay curious – to discover and to explore something new,,,
=================================================================================
I like art, theater and especially music, reading (often too much on Science & Environment, but – must admit – I check interesting reports on YouTube as well – especially in original languages – as far as I can understand), trialed building Handpan(s) (it was tough and too loud for others) and created some Bamboo Didgeridoos, playing a bit of Guitar and performing at least regular outdoor activities: mostly jogging, of course biking, inline scattering, riding more by train than using the car (always a secret success factor – to be better prepared for meetings), finally some trials on socials on a bit of photography and some desperate exercises on poem writing -well everybody has some weaknesses.
On social media Instagram: my main activity by images was before 06/2021 later by images, notes or poem trials. It was unfortunately way too much engaged for nearly nothing as final outcome for me personally – performing then more on my geo-scientific and outdoor activity did as well more consultancy influenced by “deep work” (Cal Newport), applied Atomic Habits (James Clear), listened to Jordan B. Peterson (his “12 Rules to Apply” and the complex “Maps of Meaning”), truly I am a fan of Richard Dawkins & Lawrence M. Krauss and their engagement on science & public, like the old writers as Georg Trakl, Baudelaire, Goethe as well as the “Faust” by Peter Stein and the movies from Werner Herzog. Of course not to forget the French writers Philippe Jaccottet, Annie Ernaux, of course Houellebecq as well and the unforgettable Sylvia Plath, Louise Glück, Mark Strand, Richard David Precht to mention some.
I like especially the “Bauhaus” style. I adore the paintings of Edward Hopper and put a dreaming on artists like Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, the latest I once nearly found out there – as a kind of mimicry on a local “Outback” (well on a local industrial harbor site – to be honest). If you like, visit my Instagram site by the same name ResEngMike (…but as general warning for you – do not apply the same name(s) for security reasons on your internet places – “binary fingerprints” can become vulnerable). But, I will be happy to welcome you over there as well! But I’m not too often present on Instagram anymore, thus be a bit patient on this common social Instagram ground (inspired by Cal Newport, James Clear and Jardon Lanier). Working now more on reservoir engineering as consult on improving my English, French and the challenge Spanish is ongoing – need quite some focus to succeed in.

Remark – some personal historical insight: from the old and quite tough times – far back to my family history with roots to NE-France the North Vosges with their lonesome valleys and hidden lost (industrial and historical) places. The “Charbonniers”, the charcoal burners, an itinerant and closed population, lived apart from the locals like outlaws – poor chaps!… In a transverse valley of the Moselle, very out in the deep forests, was exploited and colonized according to tradition by Swedes as well whose first prefect of the Vosges, Henri-Zacharie Desgouttes, still discovered in 1800 that they still live in total autarky on the national territory with their own language of origin and asks the sub-prefect to give him some title.
In the absence of legal documents, the forest agents enforced republican legislation in the valley, not without resistance from the charcoal burners, who later ended up merging with the local population. This industrial specialization of the isolated valley at the foot of the “Ballon d’Alsace” (1247m) and the “Tête des Perches” (1222m) led the native inhabitants of the main valley to associate with this place only those capable of living there as the poor charcoal burners – “I feel there even today like welcome at home: St-Maurice-sur-Moselle with my beloved “La vallée des Charbonniers” the place, where our family history once was grounded – between the tiny villages of “La Goutte du Rieux” and “Les Charbonniers” working from there into a NW-stretching tiny valley – long ago – back to the 18th century!
Later some family fellows pf mine tried for a “better living!” – outside the darkness of the forests of the Vosges – well, finally they tied their fortune as coal miners in the French/Sarre border area (“Glückauf!”), finally as well as poor chaps. Some changed later even their names to become “truly German” thus we went from Charbonnier to Koehler, why ?… sadly I do not know by today!
But here; I am back to follow the old family tradition, I am here as MICHAEL CHARBONNIER or shortly on Instagram @ResEngMike.
The funny thing: I became first – possibly by a kind of “built-in genetic traditional heritage” a miner. Well “old habits die hard”, a Mining Engineer, later I studied, “more modern (not by today) at that time”, a Reservoir Engineer as my passion to combine geo-science and technology – I enjoyed my 2nd study in Berlin at the Technical University of Berlin on earth science a lot.
++
My focus as reservoir engineer of today: it’s exploration, field development, challenging projects (on “tight gas”, from HT/HP to “tail end”) from stimulation to optimization – working on all/different field production phases… as well as on well testing and so many reservoir simulations.
Performing a bit of software development (mainly – old-habits like Delphi: Object Pascal (for 20 years) – often “after job developments”).
I always liked teamwork as the essential feature on cooperation on challenging projects – to succeed in as a team.
Like as well R&D-studies for the sake of “exploring” geo-science, wrote on papers as a kind of reminder & made presentations…
Activity: mainly national (Germany), but international at least by experiences as well (but, mostly EU).
++
I like languages to explore the originals and to discuss with the local people: German “by my nature”, French and as well as some English.
Present job: Independent Consultant as Reservoir Engineer… but, to avoid – to become too “technical/geo-scientific” here:
Further details on job-activity can be seen at LinkedIn, if you are truly interested on this matter… or if you like, check some of my poems on insta or here as well as some pictures are on the galleries to discover…

Let’s come back to this lonesome place here – like the forests of the Vosges:
On the matter of photography – performed as passion, the one of other weekend – presented at Instagram. But since 12/2021 due to intense work st home office I am more and more seldom on “the socials” – But I feed at least the site as I have something nice to report like recently some insights on Metz/Lorraine/France, as well as there is something nice to discover in my local outdoor areas – at season changes at spring or autumn.
Thus at least, I came back from time to time – to feed this social site –

Remark – in honor to my ancestors – I went back to my original family name “Charbonnier” as traditional “char coal burner” from the North Vosges (France NW)” on Instagram and nicknamed there – as Mining Engineer by tradition and Reservoir Engineer supported by my passion on geo-science and technologies (on Instagram @ResEngMike) in a time as our energy supply is about to change a lot – for an alternative future to establish – on renewable resources.
By wind, solar and others – there is a wind of change on progress – at least locally here in Europe! But, that is surely not at all sufficient – as everybody know).

With kind greeting – Michael Charbonnier from the woods of Lorraine/France, from those mystical forests located in today nearly forgotten valleys. In a landscape of quite some lovely castles, hidden industrial site (from 1818-2004 there were 58 coal mines active – today see “Parc Explore” (“La Mine Wendel”) and lost places like “Puits Simon”)) and quite some pet bogs – from especially the region of Forbach/Lorraine and finally back on black footprints – by charcoal traces guiding back to the valleys of the North Vosges….”@@”…;-)…

Thank you for your kind visit – here on ResEngMike – Will try to improve this place a bit more in the future and I hope to see you all here again!
Thus – TAKE care – Be always aware – being online and take care as well out there in you local areas, wherever you are!
Maybe one day we meet each other “OUT !”,,, somewhere – at a nice location! Nature has so many to offer!
@@² or…”@@”…;-)… “Glückauf!”
